SCF2343-C #74 Bill Shirley 72 Dodge Charger

Detroit's Bill Shirey was a part of the NASCAR Grand National/Winston Cup family from 1969-1972 and lasted in Grand National East competition into 1973. Most of those races were in Shirey's #74 Plymouth, and Bill's best finishes were a pair of ninth place runs in the 1970 Richmond 500 and the 1971 Kingsport 300. Bill was fighting an uphill battle against better equipment. He had a stretch of seventeen straight DNFs that began in 1971 and lasted into 1972, as well as a string of sixteen straight in the 1970 season. Borrowed this photo from Jeff Droke's Nashville page
